Portland Harbor Hotel

468-470 Fore Street, Portland, Maine – 2008

The Portland Harbor Hotel Annex project incorporated the addition of a 5-story contemporary steel and glass volume between the existing hotel on Fore Street and an historic brick building on the corner of Fore and Cross Streets in Portland’s Old Port District.  The intention of the design was to extend the life of the Old Port one block beyond its current configuration with an attractive and illuminated jewel that was welcoming to the pedestrian and serves as a hallmark western entrance to the district on Fore Street.  The building acts as a hinge between the two existing buildings, as it joins two formerly distinct structures into a seamless interior space while maintaining the qualities of separate buildings on the exterior.  The volume contains exquisite hotel suites, a conference center, ground floor retail space and a spa for hotel guests.

This project was designed in collaboration with TruexCullins Interior Design, Burlington, Vermont.
