Emery School Apartments- Biddeford, Maine
By thoughtfully rehabilitating a 1912 elementary school building, this project is able to provide affordable housing for an aging population. The former Emery School Building was designed by the architectural firm Miller & Mayo in a Georgian Revival Style in the early 20th Century, and is situated within a residential neighborhood, thus providing a significant architectural node within the surrounding context. By revitalizing this beautiful example of early 20th C. architecture, the project has restored the neighborhood to its role of significance in the city.
The preservation and rehabilitation of historic buildings has become one of Archetype’s major strengths over time. It is our considered approach to the balance of historic detailing with contemporary design and technology that has gained our firm a reputation in Northern New England for providing our clients with successful projects in a time of difficult budgetary restrictions.
